Description
The French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle is renowned for her “ Nanas” — vibrantly colored sculptures of women. Like all of Niki’s work, these iconic figures reflect her boundless creativity. Previously unseen footage and more recent images — filmed in Europe, the Americas, and Japan — reveal the life and legacy of this multidisciplinary artist. Her portraits and works have been captured on film by Japanese director Michiko Matsumoto since 1981 . Through an artist’s eye, this documentary offers an in-depth look at masterpieces such as the Tarot Garden in Tuscany (Italy), a monumental sculptural complex that took over twenty years to complete. | Presented in collaboration with Les Belles Heures of the Université de Montréal.
